Kevin W. Crye
In 1999, Crye founded Upper Hand Athletics. In its early days, UHA only serviced athletes and trainers. He quickly saw that this need was so much greater, though, and over the years UHA’s reach has included schools, youth organizations, and coaches of dozens of sports, all with the aim of ensuring their athletes can have the same care, compassion, and instruction delivered to them that UHA considers paramount for all its clients.
While Crye cherishes the ability to individually guide and instruct his athletes, his true success is measured in his clients’ ability to self-advocate, self-manage, and self-propel themselves to new levels. “Education has always been vital to the success of Upper Hand Athletics, and it is no less vital to what we do at Valor,” Crye added. “These programs come from the same place, and that is to help people unlock their potential and give them the ability to inspire others.”
Crye’s clients have included everyone from elementary students and homeschool groups in the Redding area to future and current Olympians and professional athletes.
In addition to his formal education and decades of experience as a trainer, coach, and agent, Crye has also earned teaching licenses in multiple states and is a certified CFT II through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA), a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and has coached nine sports, seven of them as a head coach. He has coached every level from junior high through college and has been an adjunct professor at Simpson University, his alma mater. He is regularly sought after for speed, strength, and conditioning programs at all levels of competitiveness, including three seasons (2005-2007) with the Chico Outlaws of the independent Golden Baseball League where he interacted with future and former MLB players.
